Community and Q&A

Can you recommend a product to use under my deck to channel water above my patio?

Tehayes | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Water drips through Trex decking and drop onto patio below. I need product to attach under deck above patio to channel water to outer edges so that we can enjoy the patio in the rain. How would the spray insulation hold up to the elements? Is there a better product that you can recommend?

I'd suggest Googling using corrugated sheets under deck. They could be metal roofing, or fiberglass, or other. If you put in purloin spacer blocks of increasing height, you should be able to have it slope to the outer edge, where you can either let it run off or install a gutter to direct the water farther way from house.

One nice thing about using corrugated sheet goods is that they screw into place easily, and can also be unscrewed if you ever have to get in there to clean or fix anything.

Edit: my nomenclature is probably suspect. Use spacer blocks to make sure that the 2x4 purloins angle down so that water drains away from the house and doesn't puddle...

    Hi Andrew,

I've seen this system at trade shows. There are other like it. Makers claim that systems like the one from trex are easier to install than corrugated roofing and other owner-designed methods.
