Best adhesive for Visqueen lapped to concrete block?

DexterBob | Posted in General Questions on

Looking for an adhesive to stick my 6 mil visqueen vapor barrier to the concrete block stem wall. I want to lap the visqueen up about 6 inches. I have tried duct mastic which sticks well to the block but readily peels from the visqueen. Something other than Tremco?

    Robert,
The old method was to use Tremco acoustical sealant between the polyethylene and the concrete blocks, and to secure the seam with a 1x4 batten fastened with TapCon screws. The new method is to use Siga Wigluv tape.

[Note to GBA readers: You may be thinking, "What is visqueen?" It's regional dialect. I've never heard the term on a construction site. But in some areas of North America, that's what they call polyethylene sheeting. Visqueen was originally a brand name.]

You might try 3M 8067 flashing tape, which is a little cheaper than Siga Wigluv.
