Attic venting and fans

emruane | Posted in General Questions on

There was a discussion here relating to someone who wanted to know if having an attic fan supply fresh air into the attic would work as well as an attic exhaust fan.

The answer was no – that by pressurizing the attic with outside air, you would force the hot air from the attic into the residence below.

But what about having two fans – same CFM at opposite ends of the attic – one exhausting air and one supplying air??

It seems that since they are the same size – all you are doing is creating a flow from one end of the attic to the other – with neutral effect on the residence below.

It would seem that this would move more air through the attic versus one attic exhaust fan relying on passive soffit vents to provide the fresh air.

 Thoughts welcome!
