Are roof baffle necessary if I intend to use spray foam on the underside of a metal shed roof

zredleg | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

I have a 18 x 36 building with a metal roof in West Texas. I am wondering do I need to put the in the roof baffles inside the 2×6 rafters going to the ridge vent if I intend to spray foam the underside of the roof. This is a new build so it has no insulation at this time. I understand condensation should not be to be an issue if there is no space for it to condense. I do have 2 split units, heating and cooling the space. The space is used as a weekend cabin so I’m not going to live in it full time.
thanks
z

    z,

No you don't need baffles, but if you are using open-cell foam you might want to include a vapour diffusion port at the ridge to eliminate any worries about moisture building up under your sheathing.
