Are hybrid solar electric/hydro panels worth considering?
Does anybody have personal experience with hybrid solar electric/hydro panels?
Can you share your impressions? In what situations would you use or avoid using them?

No experience, but the efficiency is high. But so is the cost. You are looking at adding a plumber, tank, high temp tubing, etc. Probably $5000 worth of equipment on top of install costs.
Even DIY, the cost doesn't seem to make sense, when I can buy more panels for very cheap. It would be easier to add a few panels, a $400 electric water heater, and swap the elements out for DC elements if you want a really cheap way to heat water.
