Air barrier in stairwell between 2nd and 3rd floors and their HVAC zones?

Is there a product that can be placed at the top of an open stairwell between home floors that will keep the HVAC zones on each floor separate. Last winter I used a cut-to-fit piece of rigid foam board. Is there something more professional.?

For several years I used a split curtain of fairly heavy cloth,
synthetic which tends to hang nice and straight. It kept the
cold upstairs quite well when I wasn't heating it as much, and
I could still freely pass through it. Just had to make sure
it was hanging right after using the passage...
