Adjustable Height Range Hood

AdamT | Posted in General Questions on

Are there any adjustable height range hoods that can be lowered closer to the stove when in use and lifted when not in use?

I remember seeing one in a video, but can’t find it now that I’m looking for it. An adjustable height range hood would be more effective, have a higher capture rate, require a smaller/quieter fan and use less makeup air. These are all great benefits.

Thanks,
Adam

I have not seen that option. There are models that extend outward when in use, and downdrafts that rise up when in use. Maybe there are vertically adjustable hoods as well; I just haven't seen them.

Miele used to make one. Think it is discontinued but you may be able to find one NOS.

      Definitely not cheap.

Thanks all... the Miele is pricey. I'm temped to DIY one, but it would look like something I DIY'd.

It's really just the capture area that would need to be lowered, not all the components of a hood. With that in mind, I wonder if a decorative facade could be lowered while the hood itself remains in place. This depends on what's to the side of course.
