If you’re in commercial or residential construction in the Midwest, one resource for green building research is the University of Nebraska, which on Thursday is presenting a one-day workshop on the Department of Energy’s plans to bring net-zero-energy buildings to market by 2025.

While the focus of the event – formally titled High-Performance Green Buildings: Research, Development, Education and Training Opportunities Collaborative Workshop – will be commercial construction, the panelists include Edward Pollack, the residential construction research-and-development team leader for the DOE’s Building Technologies Program. Pollock will discuss new developments in Washington, D.C., regarding residential energy use.

Other workshop topics include “Life-Cycle Assessment of Buildings: How to Minimize Resource Utilization, Waste and Environmental Impact” and “Preparing the ‘Green Collar’ Workforce and Consumer Behavior.”
